Portfolio: Bukchon Hanok Village Traditional City Branding

안녕하세요, 한국의 전통적인 미학을 현대적인 디자인 언어로 재해석하여 도시와 브랜드의 가치를 높이는 디자이너 타미(Tommy)입니다. 이번에 소개해 드릴 프로젝트는 대한민국의 대표적인 역사적 명소인 ‘북촌 한옥마을’을 테마로 제작된 전통 로고 디자인 포트폴리오입니다.

세월의 흔적이 묻어나는 한옥의 유려한 기와 곡선과 전통 창호의 기하학적 패턴을 조화롭게 구성하여, 북촌 한옥마을만이 가진 고즈넉한 정취와 품격을 시각화했습니다. 과거와 현재가 공존하는 마을의 정체성을 담기 위해 절제된 라인과 한국의 전통적인 오방색을 현대적으로 변주한 컬러 팔레트를 적용했습니다. 이 로고는 관광 브랜드, 지자체 공공 디자인, 전통 숙박업(한옥 스테이), 그리고 한국적 정서가 핵심인 로컬 비즈니스에 최적화된 아이덴티티입니다. 국내외 방문객들에게 한국의 아름다움을 직관적으로 전달하며 도시의 가치를 깊이 있게 각인시키는 프리미엄 전통 브랜딩 솔루션입니다.

Hi, I’m Tommy, a designer who elevates the value of cities and brands by reinterpreting traditional Korean aesthetics into a modern design language. This project features a traditional logo design portfolio themed around ‘Bukchon Hanok Village,’ one of South Korea’s most iconic historical landmarks.

By harmoniously composing the elegant curves of Hanok roof tiles and the geometric patterns of traditional windows, I visualized the serene atmosphere and dignity unique to Bukchon Hanok Village. To capture the village’s identity where the past and present coexist, I applied restrained lines and a color palette that offers a modern variation of Korea’s traditional Obangsaek (five cardinal colors). This identity is perfectly optimized for tourism brands, local government public designs, traditional accommodations (Hanok stays), and local businesses where Korean sentiment is central. It is a premium traditional branding solution that intuitively communicates the beauty of Korea to both domestic and international visitors, deeply imprinting the city’s value.
