Portfolio: Korean Traditional Taegeuk Symbol & National Poster Design

Hi, I’m Tommy, a designer who sublimates Korea’s unique spirit and traditional aesthetics into a modern graphic language. This project features a traditional poster design portfolio centered around the ‘Taegeuk’ mark, the symbol of South Korea, capturing its philosophical depth and artistic dignity.

By reinterpreting the yin-yang curves of the Taegeuk—representing the harmony of the universe—with sophisticated brushstrokes and traditional textures, I visualized its value as a work of art beyond a mere symbol. I harmoniously placed the four trigrams (Geon, Gon, Gam, Ri) and utilized the beauty of negative space to allow for a sense of both restrained power and noble spirit. This design is perfectly optimized for projects that need to communicate the identity of the Republic of Korea with the highest dignity, such as promotional materials for national anniversaries (Independence Day, Liberation Day, Memorial Day), exhibition posters promoting Korean beauty globally, and government branding. It is a premium Korean traditional branding solution that provides deep resonance to viewers and adds national pride to the brand.
