Portfolio: Iconic Jeju Tangerine Hareubang & Local Branding Identity

안녕하세요, 지역의 고유한 상징물에 위트와 현대적인 감각을 더해 브랜드의 특별한 서사를 완성하는 디자이너 타미(Tommy)입니다. 이번에 소개해 드릴 프로젝트는 제주도의 정체성을 가장 직관적이면서도 독창적으로 결합한 ‘제주 감귤 하르방 캐릭터 로고 디자인’ 포트폴리오입니다.

제주를 상징하는 돌하르방의 든든한 형상과 제주의 싱그러움을 대표하는 감귤을 하나의 유기적인 캐릭터로 묘사했습니다. 하르방의 투박하지만 정감 있는 실루엣에 상큼한 감귤의 질감과 컬러를 입혀, 비즈니스가 지향하는 로컬의 진정성, 여행의 설렘, 그리고 건강한 달콤함을 시각화했습니다. 세련된 라인 아트와 제주의 자연을 닮은 오렌지·그레이 컬러 팔레트를 적용해 전통적인 모티프를 현대적인 캐릭터 브랜딩으로 재탄생시켰으며, 이는 방문객들에게 잊지 못할 친근한 첫인상을 선사합니다. 이 디자인은 제주 특산물 브랜드, 기념품 샵, 로컬 카페 및 베이커리, 관광 콘텐츠 비즈니스 등 제주의 색채를 강렬하게 드러내면서도 대중적인 귀여움을 동시에 확보해야 하는 모든 브랜드에 최적화된 아이덴티티입니다.

Hi, I’m Tommy, a designer who completes a brand’s special narrative by adding wit and a modern touch to unique regional symbols. This project features the “Jeju Tangerine Hareubang Character Logo Design”portfolio, which combines the identity of Jeju Island in the most intuitive and original way.

I depicted the sturdy shape of the Dolhareubang, representing Jeju, and the tangerine, representing Jeju’s freshness, as one organic character. By applying the fresh texture and color of a tangerine to the rugged yet friendly silhouette of the Hareubang, I visualized the local authenticity, the excitement of travel, and healthy sweetness the brand pursues. Using sophisticated line art and a color palette of orange and gray that resembles Jeju’s nature, I reborn the traditional motif into a modern character branding, giving visitors an unforgettable and friendly first impression. This identity is perfectly optimized for all brands that need to strongly reveal Jeju’s colors while simultaneously securing popular cuteness, such as Jeju specialty brands, souvenir shops, local cafes and bakeries, and tourism content businesses.
